Einar Wathne

President/Group Leader, Cargill Aqua Nutrition, Norway

Dr Einar Wathne is President and Group Leader at Cargill Aqua Nutrition, based in Norway. He has spent his entire career in the aqua feed industry. Starting with marketing and customer roles, he was an industrial nutrition scientist for more than 10 years. He changed direction in his career 15 years ago and entered a range of management roles within EWOS, before taking over as CEO of the EWOS Group in 2013. In 2015, Cargill acquired EWOS. At Cargill, Einar merged all the aqua feed operations at EWOS and Cargill into Cargill Aqua Nutrition, a new group where he now serves as President and Group Leader. Einar is dedicated to innovation and has been driving feed innovations in EWOS from all his roles. His current focus is on transferring innovation capabilities into warm water species. Consumer attitudes have changed the way Einar sees the role that feed plays in the acceptance of farmed seafood. In Cargill, he drives sustainability and consumer focus into the entire enterprise of Cargill Animal Nutrition. Einar holds a PhD in Aquaculture from the Agricultural University of Norway and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Norwegian School of Management.
