Taiwan-based Lan is Asia Marine Aquaculture Specialist with the Soybean Export Council (USSEC) since 2000. His responsibilities cover four areas. In fish nutrition and feed formulation, it is the promotion of US soy in aquafeed and conducting feeding demonstrations with farmers in different regions (mainly China and Southeast Asia countries). Offshore cage aquaculture development covers cage facilities and fish culture practices. Fish disease diagnosis focuses on fish health status of fish and disease control via education activities and technical services to local fish farmers. In IPRS development for marine areas, it is the identification of problems.
Lan’s experience includes marine fish hatchery technology consulting – the design, operations, management modifications for hatchery improvements, broodstock, live food production, larval rearing, fingerling nursing, and shipping and receiving. As an active member of Taiwan’s Fish Breeding Association, Lan is a certified counselor in breeding management and quality assurance of fish fry. He has a certification for hatchery best practice in biosecurity, sustainability, and controllability. Lan has a Master of Science degree from the University of Auburn, USA, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the National Pingtung University, Taiwan.
