Professor and Scientist, Fish Nutrition Research Laboratory, University of Guelph and Novatech Biometrics, Canada
Dr Dominique P Bureau manages the Fish Nutrition Research Laboratory at the University of Guelph where he supervises a team of 20 young scientists. He joined the faculty at the Dept. of Animal Biosciences in 2000 and holds the rank of Professor since 2009. Dominique leads a dynamic research program focusing on nutrients (amino acids, fatty acids, glucose, phosphorus) metabolism and utilization, feed formulation, feedstuff evaluation, management of environmental impacts of fish culture operations, integration and valorization of published scientific information and development of mathematical models of digestion, growth, and nutrient utilization for aquaculture species. He was a member of the NRC Committee on Nutrient Requirements of Fish and Shrimp (2009-2011) and now leads the International Aquaculture Feed Formulation Database (IAFFD) project (http://iaffd.com). Dominique and his team work closely with numerous feed manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, aquaculture producers and consultants in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Dominique is also co-founder of Novatech Biometrics (http://novatechbiometrics.com/), a production and nutritional analysis platform built to increase operational efficiency of aquaculture producers and feed manufacturers. He holds a Master’s degree in Animal Science from Laval University (Canada) and a PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Guelph (Canada).
