Dragos Mircea
Founder & CEO
Good Tôm
Vietnam
Dragos is an aquaculture entrepreneur. Driven by a passion for sustainable protein, he moved to Vietnam in 2023, where he immersed himself in the shrimp universe — he engaged with tens of producers, input suppliers, and experts across Southeast Asia in order to understand the real issues of this sector. He decided to focus on solving two of them: (1) the huge risk associated with shrimp farming; (2) the excessive use of antibiotics.
Thus, Dragos founded Good Tôm (Good Shrimp), a venture-backed, precision aquaculture start-up based in the Mekong Delta. They utilize science-based, data-driven practices to grow shrimp (Vannamei and Monodon) in a profitable and more sustainable way. The company takes over existing farms that are abandoned or underutilized, turns them around, and produces shrimp without using antibiotics. Going forward, Good Tôm is planning to export high-quality shrimp to the EU, in collaboration with several international and local partners.
Prior to Good Tôm, Dragos was a shrimp outsider. He used to be a management consultant at Strategy& (part of PwC), in London; he spent 6 years advising leading Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology Companies and Healthcare providers across the UK, Western Europe, Middle East, and the US. In 2022, Dragos obtained his MBA from INSEAD, currently ranked as the #2 business school in the world by Financial Times. He is, thus, bringing a completely different mindset and approach to shrimp farming.
