TARS 2026 will be held August 19–20, 2026 at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia
Program Outline
The current aquaculture landscape in Asia is challenged from several fronts: rising costs of production, led by aquafeeds and energy, oversupply and low margins threatening economic sustainability to impact from climate change. While inflationary cost increases affect all players along the supply chain, aquafeed businesses require a thriving aquaculture industry. TARS 2026, Aquafeeds: Fit for Future 2.0 proposes a strategic shift in aquafeed development to address current and future aquaculture needs – for today’s production systems and for the future aquaculture landscape. It is the next stage of innovation where nutrition, technology, industry and the environment converge.
Tentative Program
DAY 1
Wednesday: August 19, 2026
08:30 - 18:30
07:30 - 08:30

08:30 - 08:40
Opening Address
08:40 - 10:30
State of Industry: Feed Commodities & Aquafeed
Volatile feed commodity prices and supply/logistics disruptions are squeezing feedmillers and the farmers they support. These state of industry presentations provide the latest trends with feed commodities and deep dive into the strategic role of fishmeal and its availability. We examine aquafeed production challenges and look at several areas where the Asian industry can look to improve. There is a competitive aquafeed landscape in Indonesia fuelled by new entrants. How do the local players manage?
10:00 - 10:30
Panel Discussion with an Industry Player and Speakers
10:30 - 11:00
Tea Break
11:00 - 12:00
Nutrients, Digestibility & Costs
Precision nutrition based on digestible nutrients requires digestibility values of nutrients and ingredients. Understanding how nutrient and pellet size requirements change with shrimp and fish growth stages is critical. The target is creating efficient feeds to match industry needs – such as nursery feeds for shrimp, freshwater and marine fish. The KPI is lowest feed cost/kg of weight gain.
12:00 - 12:30
Panel Discussion with Industry Players and Speakers
12:30 - 14:00
Lunch
14:00 - 16:00
Risk Management, Health & Functional Feeds
Risk management comes with improving shrimp and fish resilience to diseases and increasing survival rates, via a holistic approach. This session covers functional ingredients, mode of action, interactions and practical applications. These ingredients help mitigate health risks by boosting immunity, supporting gut health, and maintaining a balanced microbiome. The objective is to show consistency in performance and cost benefits, to gain user acceptance.
15:40 - 16:10
Panel Discussion with an Industry Player and Speakers
16:10 - 16:30
Tea Break
16:30 - 17:10
Industry Dialogue with Next-Gen Farmers X Feedmillers
The objective is to discuss what farmers want and what feedmillers can deliver. The next-generation focuses on efficiency, profitability and environmental responsibility. They are results-oriented, more open to change and use of science and technology and data. We invite some of them to share their challenges and wishlist with feedmillers.
17:10 - 17:20
Q&A with Participants
17:20 - 18:30
Smart Feeding & Management
Improving feed efficiency focuses on optimising nutrition delivery such as through AI-driven monitoring and real-time biomass data. It is ensuring precise nutrient administration that is species- and life stage-specific amid changing environmental conditions. The goal is to reduce waste and improve FCR.
18:00 - 18:30
Panel Discussion with Industry Players and Speakers
18:45 - 20:30
Light Dinner and Cocktails
DAY 2
Thursday: August 20, 2026
08:30 - 18:10
08:30 - 10:10
Feed Sustainability & Technology
Feed sustainability and certification is the concept for future feeds with LCA-optimised formulations and meeting demands for deforestation-free, low emissions and carbon footprint across the feed lifecycle. New generation feeds include using predictive modelling for ingredient variability and digestibility, bespoke feed processing of species-specific feeds to automated mycotoxin detection and byproduct utilisation.
10:10 - 10:40
Panel Discussion with Industry Players and Speakers
10:40 - 11:00
Tea Break
11:00 - 12:30
Interactive Roundtable Breakout - Part 1: The Exchange
Developing New Generation Aquafeeds & Innovations
The objective is to review what is proposed, debate features and benefits, prioritise needs and develop a concept for new generation aquafeeds.
This is the forte of TARS. Everyone has a voice. We gather participants of 10 pax/roundtable (according to their preferred group) to exchange information, experiences, ideas, opinions and outlook to move the industry forward. The 3 breakout groups are:
12:30 - 14:00
Lunch
14:00 - 14:45
Hard Talk with C-Suite Business Leaders
What can we change in aquafeeds and feeding? What current mindset do we need to change to achieve our goals? A deep dive into what constitutes ‘fit for future’ feeds.
14:45 - 15:00
Q&A with Participants
15:00 - 15:20
Alternative Ingredients & Performance
There is the market push for alternative feed ingredients. The trend has veered towards seeking bioactivity as functional ingredients to match costs to performance. We bring innovators to deliberate on “How to create the pull and push for industry's adoption.”
15:20 - 16:00
Q&A & Panel Debate
Who bears the cost with supply chain (feedmiller, farmer, processing plant, buyer)?
16:00 - 16:30
Tea Break
16:30 - 18:00
Interactive Roundtable Breakout - Part 2: The Output
Final Panel Discussion with 3 Group Leaders
The output from the roundtable breakout session will be aggregated and presented by 3 group leaders.
